Storytelling Festival

October 13, 2007

For the Storytelling Festival, I decided to go to the Animas tent to see Andy Offutt Irwin and Eldrena Douma for the 9:30 storytelling. Two student storytellers opened for the main two. I thought the student storytellers were great. It takes a lot of guts to get up on stage in front of a group of people and tell a story. They were both great and are going to be awesome when they get older.
Andy Offutt Irwin was also good, but I didn't even realize he was telling his story until the end. I thought he was doing like an introduction before his story, but it turned out that was his story.
Eldrena Douma was awesome. I loved her stories about when she was younger. She really captivated her audience. I went to the festival with a friend and her 6 year old son, Noah. For the first storyteller, he didn't really pay attention, but played with his Transformer toys. For the second storyteller, Eldrena Douma, he was all ears. There was a part where she was telling about how her Grandma scared her and she made a noise and everyone in the audience jumped up a foot. Noah  thought this was so funny because she scared him.
This was my first year attending the Storytelling Festival and I plan to go back next year. I wish I would have had time to stay all day and listen to all the different storytellers, but I had to go to work. I look forward to next year.
